- Comments: In my view the greatest movie ever made. The music and cinematography make it for me.

- Favorite Scene: While I enjoy the whole movie, I think the most telling scene is when Dunbar and the Lakota find the slaughtered buffalo. It shows the ruthlessness and non-caring of the white people and changes Dunbar's outlook on life.

- Comments: THANK YOU FOR THIS SITE. When I get into conversations about people's favorite movies of all time, people look at me weird when I tell them Dances With Wolves. People get intimidated by the length of the movie and in my opinion, when I watch it, I wish it was 8 hours long. I have read the Holy Road, and for years I wished Costner would star in it and finally have a Dances With Wolves sequel. But I think differently now. Dances was such a powerful movie, cinematic genius at its best, you cannot match or top this. I think you leave perfection alone.

- Comments: Great to see others appreciate this film as well. I don't often find people who like this film. Don't know why, maybe they just don't get it. I absolutely loved it first time I saw it. I have the 3 disc Special Edition DVD, the Soundtrack and as I write this I am waiting for the post to arrive with the book.

- Favorite Scene: Does all count? From the start of the movie it caught me with the suicide scene and they did it twice, from then on one excellent scene after another makes this one of my favorite all time movies.

- Favorite Scene: when Dunbar was bringing Stands With A Fist back to the village after she had cut herself in mourning and he pauses on top of the ridge and sees for the first time the river and the village. Emotion filled my heart and throat as I thought "Ah, Home!" 2nd best is when Dunbar dances around his fire all by himself. I could really identify with that scene.

- Comments: I've got the new uncut version and it helped fill in a lot of parts where I just knew there had to be more. Even better than the first release. It is my all time favorite movie. Just listening to the music is an emotional experience. I can watch it over and over again and never tire of it. A huge thank you to ALL who made this movie possible.

- Favorite Scene: the scene where John Dunbar plays with Two Socks. It gives me a great feeling. I think this is the only film that shows that proper COMMUNICATION fills a lot of GAP and also this shows as to what is TRUE FRIENDSHIP and TRUE LOVE... A BEAUTIFUL FILM.

- Favorite Scene: I have so many, it isn't fair to say which one. But what sticks out to me the most was when John Dunbar lashed out in Lakota at the Army after he was captured and he said he was Dances With Wolves and they were not fit to speak to him.

- Comments: The first time I watched that film on VHS in 1995, I wasn't sure what to expect, but for some reason I was skeptical. My skepticism was blown away within the first 10 minutes. I gradually fell in love with DWW, scene by precious scene. Kevin Costner did a marvelous job - great shots, great acting, great directing. And it all melts into one - the breathtaking pictures, the fantastic cast, the wonderful music - everything. And what's most memorable for me is seeing Stands With A Fist for the first time and "falling in love" with Mary McDonnell in that role and all the others to come.
Watching DWW now is so much more than only watching a movie. It's entering a special world of companionship and love, of understanding and history, of respect and spirituality. It's more like an experience for me than a movie, a plot I find myself in, characters I relate to and a mixture of hope and realism that appeals to me on more levels than I could possibly express. One of the most precious pieces of film history in my eyes, and a treasure of American culture.

- Favorite Scene: This is so hard to choose! In any case, all scenes with the Native Americans and all scenes with Stands With A Fist. I also really liked the buffalo hunt, when John Dunbar started dressing as a Native American, and in the end when Wind In His Hair cried out he'd always be his friend. This movie is so amazing! :-)

- Favorite Scene: I love the scene where Dunbar is standing in the waist high grass gently waving his hands over the tops. He is obviously in awe of his surroundings. Later in the movie, Kicking Bird does exactly the same thing. Kindred souls! How close they later became!

- Favorite Scene: I love the buffalo scene, when everyone is working together in harmony but also tied in with all these rushing buffalos, and all these risks around them. p.s. Two of Neil Young's buffalos were apparently borrowed for this scene, so that was an added attraction for me!. :) But I do love this whole movie, for all its epicness and honesty. I loved seeing how Costner's personality and tolerance of Native American culture gradually changed, and how they learned to accept each other. Beautiful!
